Social Health Protection in East Africa

Sub working group of "Social Health Protection and Health Financing"

Social health protection is supporting health policy goals, such as the improvement of the health status of the population, access of the poor to quality health care, and sound financing for health services.

The German Development Cooperation (GDC) is increasingly working in this field, and important developments are currently taking place in the East African Region. GTZ and KfW work in the field of social protection in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda (KfW only). A workshop on Social Health Protection in East Africa was held in Arusha and, as the first activity within the working group "Social Health Protection and Health Financing", this new sub working group has been started.
