The Tanzanian German Programme to Support Health (TGPSH) was launched in 2003, with the involvement of German technical and financial cooperation (GIZ and KfW). The programme shares the same goal as the Health Sector Reform
"To improve the health and well being of all Tanzanians, with focus on those most at risk and to encourage the health system to be more responsive to the needs of the people".
The TGPSH works closely with a range of Tanzanian governmental and non-governmental institutions and assists the government’s Health Sector Reform.
The German contribution is implemented through a multi-level approach (national, regional and district). The TGPSH has contributed to an improved multi-sectoral response to HIV & AIDS, enhanced management capacities in the health financing system, quality improvement and the establishment of Public-Private Partnerships at regional and district level.
